EP 39 - SHOULD I SAY SORRY?

In This Episode:

In Africa, saying sorry to people is a normal thing. We say sorry when we do something wrong but we also say sorry to show compassion and sympathy. It's a part of who we are.

However, after some years of living in America, I was shocked to realize that 'sorry' to people here means a whole other thing!

EP 34 - SAYING "I LOVE YOU"

In This Episode:

Growing up, I rarely heard my parents say the words ‘I love you’ to themselves. I knew they loved each other, I saw it in their interactions and the respect they had for each other. However, they would hardly ever say those 3 words.

Over the years, I got very curious so I put out a question on social media “Did you or have you ever heard your parents say I LOVE YOU to each other?” and from the responses, I realized that it wasn’t just my parents but the parents of very many Africans. Could it be a thing of their generation? Or could it have to do with culture?

Join me on this episode, as I speak about what I have learnt about Africans and saying the words ‘I Love You”

EP 12 - INTERRACIAL MARRIAGE

In This Episode:

‘I always wondered why people looked at my fiancĂ© and I funny when we walked down the street until I realized, they weren’t actually looking at us funny, they were looking at ME funny. It happens in my country of origin in Africa, and in the country, I now call home in Europe. Is it still that shocking to see a white man and a black woman together?’

That was the exact same question that was going through my mind when my Nigerian friend who had just gotten married to her German boyfriend, was telling me this story.

You would think that with all the technological advancements in the world, nothing would seem new or shocking to people, but that is wrong.

People still have this absolutely wrong and absurd notion not just about Interracial Couples, but about the African/Black person in the relationship.
