EP 88 - Happy? International Women's Day

March is women's month, and every year we have a different theme, yet our problems are still the same. I will always celebrate the strength and resilience of women. Still, I also look forward to when I can genuinely, happily celebrate women's month. Knowing that Women are finally at a place in this world where we are no longer treated as the weaker gender, where we do not have to fight for our rights, where we are respected and acknowledged in society.

Still, Happy Women's Month!

EP 86 - Dehumanizing Women In Africa

In This Episode:

For the longest time, women have been treated poorly around the world, but especially in Africa. A lot of us have been fighting for the rights of WOMEN in Africa for decades. However, at the time, advocacy wasn't an 'in thing.' We were insulted and referred to as what is known as 'clout chasers.'

Now, advocacy seems to be an in, and every other day there is a new hashtag. While this is great, because the louder the voice, the better, we need to make sure that we are not just making noise and chasing our tails. We need to change tactics and look inward; change will begin with society first.

EP 46 - An African Amazon (Honorable Martha Karua)

In This Episode:

Last week, I had the opportunity of meeting a wonderful Kenyan woman. I call her an ’African Amazon’ because she defies the standards of what is expected of an African woman and risks even her own life to seek what is true and just.

Honorable Martha Karua is our African Amazon of the month.

EP 7 - THE GIRL

In This Episode:

We live in a world where it’s ok for a man to marry a CHILD
We live in a world where this CHILD loses her right to education to satisfy the sexual desires of a psychopath she now calls a husband
We live in a world where this CHILD is then forced to bear a CHILD for her ‘husband’
We live in a world where this CHILD is then tossed aside, and made to live like a wild animal due to the repercussions of early childbirth
We live in a world where the GIRL CHILD is treated like she is less than human, and then grows up to only continue the fight to be treated like a human.

It hurts to see that after all these years and all the advancements in technology, the Girl child still faces the primitive issues she has struggled with from day one.

Today I raise my voice LOUDER, as I speak up for the rights of the Girl Child.
